FAIL SECURE – NORMALLY LOCKED (Unlocked when energized) Units with AC coils are for Fail Secure (Intermittent duty) use only and should be energized for periods of less than one minute

FAIL SAFE (Reverse Action) NORMALLY UNLOCKED (Locked When Energized) Fail safe action (continuous duty) can only operate with DC coil assemblies. Units with DC coils are field reversible, Fail Secure or Fail Safe. AC units must be changed to a DC coil for fail safe action or fail secure continuous duty operation. Strikes which are energized for periods longer than one minute need to use DC coils.
